She gave us some insight on why you need a little lift with platforms & chunky heels as well adding in some tips & tricks to pull them off!

Platform Shoes have been around just about forever. They were originally worn in ancient Greece to raise the height of important characters in theatre and in both Japan and Europe to protect wearers from dirt while walking in the streets. They have also been recorded to have been worn in ancient China and India and velvet and silk interpretations, adorned with pearls and silver were donned by Lebanese women between the 14th and 17th centuries.
The first modern platform shoe was created in 1930 and the ludicrously high shoes reached peak popularity on the late 1960s and early 1970s when they were sported by both men and women. They have since never quite left and always held a very special place in fashion. Platform shoes have been worn and popularized by the likes of Judy Garland, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX and of course, the Spice Girls.
Trendier, more current versions of the famed shoe can be seen from season to season in the form of boots, sandals and even sneakers.
I absolutely love platforms because they can add just the right amount of drama, playfulness and absurdity to an outfit. You can wear them to spice up a simple jean/skirt and tee/jumper combo, a plain bodycon dress, and even a pair of ultra-casual joggers. They are also surprisingly comfortable because even though your feet are elevated they aren’t at an angle.
I picked this white Dolce Vita pair because they’re super stylish and versatile. They caught my eye and I just knew that I had to have them. I love that sole is quite chunky and that the crossed ankle strap and white colour soften it up. It reminds me of the bubblegum era of Baby Spice.
White shoes *can* be a super risky fashion choice but style is all about taking those risks. In these pictures I wore them with fishnet socks which are also having a bit of a moment in fashion right now.

Here are some tips for styling and wearing platforms:

  • Don’t be afraid of the platform. Yes, they are pretty out there but you can definitely make them work.
  • Find a pair that fits your style and wardrobe. As tempting as it is to just pick something that everyone is wearing, you need to find a pair that works with what you love to wear.
  • Experiment with cute socks, embellished stockings etc. to add cuteness or edge to the look.
  • Keep the outfit simple and logical, unless it’s Halloween ;)
  • Work it! Confidence is everything.
